King Bhumibol Adulyadej, born 5 December 1927 is the current Monarch of Thailand. He is known as Rama IX. Having reigned since 9 June 1946, he is the world’s longest-serving current head of state and the longest-reigning monarch in Thai history.
December 5 is celebrated as Father’s Day across Thailand. Many Thai peole will wear yellow on this day, which is the king’s color. On this day, some children will go visit their Families, for a blessing towards their fathers & Grand fahters with a ‘Dok Buddha Ruksa’ (Canna flower).
King Bhumibol is respected and revered by many Thais. He is legally considered “inviolable”, and lèse majesté, i.e. offence against the dignity of the monarch, may be punished
