There are many local newspapers and magazines in town. Most are geared towards tourists. The Pattaya Mail is the only weekly newspaper with a bit of editoral stuff. A good Bi-weekly newspaper is the Pattaya Today, but due to the fact that they only publish the newspaper 1 time per 2 weeks, most news is a bit outdated. A very good magazine is the Pattaya trader. This magazine is well established and is available at many outlets monthly (generally first week of the month).

Condo’s can be fully owned by a foreigner, if the percentage of ‘Foreign ownership Quota’ is not yet reached. So in case you are looking to a buy a condo, always try to get in this ‘Quota’. By current standard the quota is for every condo complex 49% for Foreigers and the remaining 51% for Thai’s

What you see with this is that identical condo’s are slightly higher priced if the fall within the foreign quota, as certianly demand is higher.

For Houses, simply said, a foreigner can not ‘directly’ land in Thailand. As the house in normaliter on the land, a foreigner can not own a house. Now the law is not 100% clear, and lawyers need to have work, they ‘invented’ the company route.

As of date, most foreigners who like to secure a house, open (via a Law Agency) a company they house they put as asset in the company with the Foreign buyer as major shareholder of the company. This type of companies are shelf companies and so far as you ask a lawyer legal.
